Chaley Garrity

1. What inspired you to start your fitness journey at Prime Fitness?

I was tired of my current fitness routine and wanted to get into strength training.

2. How long have you been training with us, and what do you love most about your time here?

I’ve been training at Prime for 3 years. Apart from the programming, I’ve loved getting to know, workout alongside, and learn from so many different people. It’s hard to cultivate a strong community in the age of living online, but Prime continues to nail it.

3. When you’re not at the gym, what do you enjoy doing in your free time?

I love reading or binging a good show (realistically, Love Island), but I try to spend a good amount of time outside and away from the noise. I’ve recently started playing tennis with a friend and am really diving into that as a new hobby.

4. What’s something people might be surprised to learn about you?  

I can write with both hands LOL

5. What accomplishment are you most proud of since joining Prime Fitness?  

There have been many little things along the way, but above all else, I’m most proud of my consistency in training. I heard someone say once that showing up for yourself isn’t about motivation – because that will come and go – it’s about discipline and committing to getting better every day.

6. How has training impacted your life outside the gym?

Any time I talk to someone who doesn’t exercise or that is wanting to start, I always say that yes, it’s cool (and healthy!) to feel strong, but it’s the absence of fatigue that I find particularly cool, although less tangible. I strive to always stay in a place where everyday things never feel hard, and I think, besides events or goals along the way, that’s why we should all train.

7. How has the Prime Fitness community influenced your fitness journey? 

It’s helped me learn what I like, don’t like, need, and don’t need in a fitness routine. I value trust and consistency when it comes to community, and knowing that there are staff and members that are alongside me for the good, bad, and ugly has been so rewarding.

8. Is there a specific training session, exercise, or piece of equipment you look forward to the most?  

I would say I respect TRX bands so much. It’s you against you – it’s always so humbling.

9. What’s your favorite post-workout meal or snack? 

Anyone who knows me (or has maybe merely worked out alongside me) knows I’m a sweater, so I live for my post-workout electrolytes and creatine concoction. I’m never starving after a workout, but I always crave my electrolytes.

10. If you could only do one exercise for the rest of your life, what would it be?  

Barbell back squat
